At Texas811, we pride ourselves on being a damage prevention agency without parallel. Yes, we took about three million incoming locate requests in 2017, yes, we hosted the International Utility Locate Rodeo finals, yes, we did dozens of live mock line strike events, yes, our Damage Prevention Managers held who knows how many individual Damage Prevention Council meetings.
But as they say on tv, wait, there’s more!
We are proud to announce a new service for everyone. In partnership with Damage Prevention Academy we are offering Gold Shovel Standard certification training to utility companies and contractors throughout Texas.
The online training covers the Gold Shovel Standard, state laws, rules, regulations and industry best practices when excavating within the State of Texas.
“We are excited to partner with Damage Prevention Academy to provide key Gold Shovel Standard training,” says Chris Stovall, President and CEO of Texas811. “Safety is the top priority when excavating near buried infrastructure. We believe that education and training can significantly reduce the rate of damage and improve public and workforce safety.”
Gold Shovel Standard is a nonprofit advocacy group led by key stakeholders dedicated to public and workforce safety at excavation sites by certifying safe-work practices and providing metrics for damage prevention performance. GSS certification demonstrates a recognition of continued learning and quality safety procedures, along with an investment in best practices and adherence to Federal and State laws. GSS believes that greater transparency in all aspects of damage prevention among buried-asset operators, locators and contractors is essential to drive continuous improvement, and vital to ensure increasingly safe working conditions and communities.
