In last week’s blog we talked about the inventor of the friction match – “A Matchless Service”. If you missed it you can read it here: http://blog.texas811.org/2017/11/27/matchless-service/
Well, it turns out that Texas lit a fire for us last week, too! We set new records for activity in the week after Thanksgiving.
Texas811 Workforce Management Specialist Jon Rollins, who keeps track of this sort of thing, says that the “unseasonably warm temps” were a big part of the 811 volume.
Texas811 fielded 11,393 incoming calls and processed 70,742 tickets last week.
Wow! That is a lot of digging! And all of it is going to be done much more safely since the call was made to have underground facilities located before excavation.
With the holiday season upon us, let’s put it all into perspective.
That’s over 11,000 more safe job digs.
That’s over 11,000 more best wishes to friends and family.
That’s over 11,000 more holiday hugs.
That’s over 11,000 more cups of hot chocolate.
That’s over 11,000 more fans to cheer for the Cowboys. (Ok, maybe that’s a stretch….)
The point is, by calling 811 you protect not only yourself, but those around you and those near and dear to you.
It’s important year round – and it’s the best gift you can give. The gift of safety benefits everyone, from giver to recipient. It shows you’re not only professional about what you do, but that you care about what you do as well.
So keep calling – we’ll keep answering – and you’ll keep being safe!
Until next week, safe digging!
